Below is a helpful summary guide to Carrot.run.
If you have any questions, thoughts, improvements, or spot bug (bugs bunny!) email firstname.lastname@example.org and we will gladly help!
Game Week begins every Sunday (00:01) and ends Saturday 18:00 GMT. You can upload a time as many times as you like during the week. So long as it is a faster time than previous.
Tip: A countdown clock can be seen in the Feed. Don't miss cut-off!
You will instantly get your Carrot result when you upload your time. If you are part of any leagues, your time and result will go into each league. If you run quicker, your 'new quicker time' will replace the 'old slower time'. All you need to do is time upload. We do the rest!
Tip: Your Profile 'summary' shows your fastest time of the Game Week
Anyone can create a league - they are a little bit like WhatsApp groups. You create them; control who can enter. There are no restrictions on size.
15 points are given for 1st place; then 12pts (2nd); 10 pts (3rd); 8 pts (4th); down to 1 point from 10th and thereafter.
All of our leagues follow the same Series schedule; see below.
Tip: Click leagues icon and click '+' on the top right to create a league.
Series are two 2 month blocks (typically 8 or 9 Game Weeks).
At the end of a Series, we celebrate the winners. Then start again, from zero points. This keeps everything fun and fresh.
Tip: You can delay to start a Series, in the League set-up procedure. But, we recommend beginning straight away! Why wait?!
The Profile is a bit like your personal 'home' page. You can access a lot of information, at a click of a button, such as - your current Game Week summary; active Leagues; Run history (coming soon) and your all important Notifications bell. And much more!
Your Carrot target time is displayed in your Game Week summary. It changes every Game Week; and is directly related to your (fastest time only) performances. A unique algorithm means Carrot.run is unlike any other app.
Tip: Your Carrot TT is based on previous performances. It will always respond, but sometimes it might take a little longer - especially after injury, or you have taken a break. But, It's ok. You will catch it!
You can make changes to your profile (name, picture, location, email, password) by clicking the cog symbol on the top right of your profile page.
Tip: Remember to click 'Save' after your changes have been made!
The bell in the top right will indicate an orange dot if you have notifications (as will your Profile icon). The notifications are clickable, though we are always making improvements.
Tip: Activate the banner notifications on your phone so you get notified of any new friend or league requests.
The friends following / follower method works the same as most social media apps. There is an 'Accept' or 'Decline' procedure and ensure you follow back, to see your friends results in your feed.
Use the 'search' icon at the top of the Friends icon to follow your friends - who have registered with Carrot.run.
Note: Advanced search feature coming soon!
You might not want to follow everybody. Especially if you're famous! This list shows the people who follow you.
Tip: You won't be able to see or add a friend to a league until they have accepted your request - so give them a nudge if needed!
Simply click the button next to your friends, on either list (the little down arrow) to bring up a list of options, such as 'unfollow or 'remove'. It's ok, they will not be notified!
Coming soon: We are working on adding a 'share with friends' button... In the meantime, please just point them to the app store and tell them they are missing out!
If the Carrot TT is the brain, then the Leagues are the heartbeat. They are a little bit like WhatsApp groups. You create them. You control who can join. There are no restrictions on size. They are what will keep you motivated and connected with friends and colleagues.
To create a league, go to 'Leagues' icon and click the + button at the top right of the screen. You will able to select whether you wish to Join a league or Create a league.
When you have followed the simple steps; created a league name, added a picture (optional) and selected Series start date, you will be able to invite your friends on the next screen.
You can add friends or edit the league invite list at any time, so don't worry if you need to come back to the invites.
You can only add people into a league who are following you. E.g. If the Queen was in Carrot.run and you followed her, she would have to follow you back - for you to invite her!
(now that's a good goal!)
Tip: You will only be able to see the friends who you are mutually following when adding to a league. Make sure your friends have accepted your follow request and give them a nudge if they haven't accepted your follow back!
There are two options to join an existing league:
1. You can follow the same process above; clicking the + sign and then manually adding the league name and passcode
Note: You can get this information from the league captain
2. You can ask the league captain to send a link to join the league. This method is great for larger groups, workplaces.
Nobody can enter a league without the league captain's approval. They will be sent a notification, where they will be simply prompted to 'accept' or 'reject'.
Tip: Appoint additional players to have admin rights. This means they will also receive approval notifications. Useful for larger leagues, especially in workplaces.
The Feed are the eyes of Carrot.run. Your friends run result will appear here as soon they post it. The feed card is full of interesting summary information; some of which is still 'work in progress' such as Carrot Points symbol and number.
Kudos is universally known as the 'well done' or 'like' symbol! Simply click the thumbs-up icon (in the Feed) and you will keep your friend encouraged and motivated.
Kudos given to you will be shown within your Player card (in your Feed) and your best run of the Game Week kudos will be shown within your main Profile page.
Tip: Kudos button is clickable. 2 clicks displays a pop-up card.
LAUINCHING in August 2022
We have gone a little bit further than simply run time and result. Every Game Week you run, you will earn Carrot Points. These go beyond simply your run time. There are over 100 ways in which you can earn carrot points. They will feature on your Feed and Profile. The Profile 'summary' hexagon will be clickable to show your entire collection of carrot points.
The more Carrot Points you collect, the higher the level. Each level is 100 points. Ultimately, it's just a bit of fun, to keep you motivated!
Look out for surprise limited edition unlocks. These include exclusive clothing apparel and collector items, to buy, wear and reward yourself.
We have a whole range of future improvements and ideas, so this is just the very beginning.
Keep in touch with our social media feeds. We would love your feedback or improvement suggestions. Or send an email to email@example.com with any further questions.
